Lieutenant Governor Visits Guilmette Civics Class 2025
Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll spoke with a Civics Class at Guilmette Middle School recently. She shared her journey in public service and students had the opportunity to ask questions about how Civics is so important to our community.

Teachers Learning in Dominican Schools
Lawrence teachers on the Immersion trip spent the day in schools in Tenares and La Torre where they assisted with a group activity with kids from kindergarten, first grade, and second grade that was. tied to the national curriculum theme of environmentalism. They met with many educators and observed classes through high school levels. They compared what they learned about the national curriculum in Tenares to how it was implemented in La Torre and made concrete connections between courses in the DR and courses in LPS.

RISE Volunteers at Cor Unum
RISE Academy night school students are engaged in volunteering efforts, dedicating their time and giving back to the community. The students contribute to making a positive impact, fostering a spirit of compassion and social responsibility. Along side our staff, the students are able to share their love and compassion for others while also maintaining their academic standards and success.

Teacher Immersion Trip Kicks Off
Eleven educators from Lawrence Public Schools arrived in the Dominican Republic's capital of Santo Domingo on Friday to begin an intensive, 10-day immersion program. They are traveling across the DR this week to experience life and education there, and of course will be sharing those experiences within LPS when they return. 1st Graders Plant New Trees at Hennessey
The 1st grade garden club had help from Groundwork Lawrence, city officials and Hennessey School staff as they planted three trees around the school. The students knew that trees are helpful to give us clean air, a home for wildlife as well as providing shade. These beautiful Sweet Gum and Golden Raintrees will grow quickly and be a beautiful addition to the school yard.

Art in Bloom 2025 Show Open This Month
The annual art show featuring art from many talented students in art classes from around the District is open all the month of April at the Heritage State Park 3rd floor museum. We invite you to come over and see what students have created this year.

Pedro Martinez and Tufts Dental Visit Arlington
A big thank you to Pedro and Carolina Martinez, the Pedro Martinez Foundation, Tufts Dental School and everyone who helped make this special visit to the Arlington School Complex possible today. Students learned about good dental hygiene in the 2nd and 3rd grades and the 8th graders enjoyed a cool question and answer session with Pedro and Carolina, such an awesome experience for our 8th graders.

Talented LHS Students Recognized Around the City
There's nothing better than seeing LPS students celebrated for their achievements, and some Lawrence High Lancers have been on quite a tour lately!
The Lawrence Alliance for Education, Lawrence City Council, Mayor Brian DePeña and Sen. Pavel Payano have recently sought to recognize varsity wrestler Hillary MacDonald (LHS Class of 2026) and the LHS Theater program. Hillary won her second straight state title this winter and theater took home an armful of hardware from February's National Performing Arts Festival (check them out this weekend performing Miss Saigon)!

LHS Theater Presents Miss Saigon
Opening Night was a success for LHS Theater, student vocalists were fantastic and the emotional musical received great audience response. You still have time to see this performance with another show Saturday, April 5, Friday April 11 and Saturday April 12 all shows starting at 6pm with a $5 ticket.
