The new Francis M. Leahy School K-8 is being constructed on the location of the former Leahy School and joins the Oliver project as Lawrence’s first new school building in more than two decades. The 1,000-student school complex will combine the Leahy Elementary, Lawlor and Leonard Middle School under one roof. The City of Lawrence has partnered with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, from which partial grant reimbursement will be received. Construction of the new School is ongoing with anticipated occupancy for the start of the academic year in the fall of 2025.
Firestopping of the in-wall slab penetrations and around stair and elevator shafts on Levels 2 – 5 continued and remains ongoing. While work continued with miscellaneous infill framing. Drywalling of the corridors, classrooms, and office partitions on Levels 2 and 3 continued throughout the month, 95% completed. Rough wiring for the FA system continued throughout the month and is 98% complete. Tele/data and security rough cabling continued and was completed on Levels 2 and 3. Level 4 was started.
