Enrollment for PK-12

Step 1

2025-26 School Year

This link is to enroll PK-12 students for Lawrence Public Schools for the school year of 2025-26 beginning this fall.

 

Please note: If your student is currently enrolled in LPS and is returning for next school year, you DO NOT need to register again.

 

New PK-12 Students Register

 

Step 2A

Prepare Required Documentation:

  • Student’s original birth certificate
  • Proof of residency (electric, gas, or mortgage bill dated within 30 days or a certified rental agreement dated within the last 12 months) in the guardian's name
  • Immunizations up-to-date (Immunization Chart)
  • Physical Exam (within one year)
  • TB Test/ Low Risk Results
  • Vision screening for PK/K (must include Stereopsis for Kindergarten Only)
  • Lead test results – PK/K Only
  • Legal custody paper, if applicable
  • Last report card or transfer form, if transferring from another school district
  • I.E.P, if student received services under a Special Education Program
  • I.A.P, if the student receives services under Section 504
 
CHILDREN MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1 IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR KINDERGARTEN.
 
Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1 to register for Pre-kindergarten*
 

Step 2B

Additional Documents that May Be Required:

  • Custody Documentation
    If one of the parents/guardians' of the student is not listed on the birth certificate, custody documentation will be required. Otherwise this individual may only be listed as an emergency contact.

 

  • Caregiver Authorization Affidavit
    Please complete and submit this form only when authorizing another family member or trusted friend to care for your child during a short- or long-term absence (not to exceed two years). This affidavit is strictly for emergency care purposes (such as Hospitalization, Incarceration, or an Out-of-State Emergency) and cannot be used to establish school placement, residency, or enrollment eligibility in a different district. It also cannot be used as a solution for parental hardship or to circumvent district residency requirements.

  • Student Residency Affidavit
    Complete and submit as alternative proof of address if there is no other documentation available in the guardian's name.

     

    Note: LPS reserves the right to audit residency verifications. This may include requests for new proof of address or a home visit by an LPS agent.

* Age exceptions include children 2.9 years and older that are referred by Early Intervention or via an LPS screening or Special Education evaluation, and siblings who will be three years old by September 1. Other three year olds are welcome to apply but will be waitlisted for open seats available after September 1.
